I am excited to introduce our “Magnificent Music: Learning Through Song” video series. We will take a fun children’s song or fingerplay (like 5 Little Pumpkins) and pull out target concepts to highlight while singing the song with your children. We have created cute printable puppets for you to use as well that further illustrate the concepts.

When we use music as a tool for learning we are presented with endless opportunities. Everyone connects with music in different ways, whether it’s playing an instrument, listening to your favorite song, singing along to music on the radio, or composing a song. Music is something that connects us as people and lets us express ourselves creatively.  Music supports learning by activating multiple regions of the brain and making experiences meaningful.

What are your favorites ways to support your child’s learning through music? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below!

What a lovely idea – thanks so much for sharing it and putting the effort in. Zach goes to a little music class every Wednesday morning. He’s a weeny bit big for it now compared to most of the children that are there but he really enjoys it so i don’t want to take him out of it quite yet! It’s amazing how much they can learn from music and songs. Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
